MOVEMBER: 4 steps to grow and groom your facial hair!

MOVEMBER: 4 steps to grow and groom your facial hair!

Movember: the month where growing your face whiskers sparks global conversations surrounding the major concerns of men’s health. It all began in 2003 when a few friends from Melbourne, Australia decided to grow a moustache to encourage open discussion to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide. It’s a lovely way to be a part of something so important, and it’s so easy to get involved! All you need to do is start the month with a fresh clean shave, then grow and groom your upper lip fuzz whilst keeping the rest of your face baby smooth. So, we moustache you a question… are you taking part? If so, we have some top tips and products that will help you style and grow the most impressive moustache so you can spark the biggest conversations and make a difference this month.

How to style your moustache

If this is your first time growing out the tache, it can be a little intimidating. Growing it may be no problem, but what will be important is styling it. You don’t want it to grow wiry and be irritating you 24/7, and of course you want it to look good! Below are some top tips on how you can get the best out of your moustache this month.

Step 1 – Grow out your beard!

If possible, let your beard grow out a little before you commit to the moustache. This will give you more options to figure out what style of tache you want to go with.

Step 2 - Choose your style

There’s a range of styles you can go for… chevron, lampshade, walrus, pencil, handlebar, etc. The list goes on! It’ll be helpful to know what style you think would suit you best. Don’t worry if you’re unsure, your barber will be able to guide you!

Step 3 – Keeping it neat

If you want to keep your look neat, comb out your moustache from the centre and trim the ends so they don't overhang and tickle your upper lip!

Step 4 – Invest in the right products

Investing in products specifically for facial hair will be beneficial to help maintain the condition of your tache to help you style it. Below are some must have products that will help you look after those handsome whiskers!

Murdock London Shave Gel

Shaving for Movember just got easier!

If you’re committing to a full, clean shave, this gel is blue on application, so you’ll have a clear visual guide when cutting around the tache.

Apply just 2 pumps with a splash of hot water and rub between the hands to create a light foam.

Murdock London Beard Oil

If your tache is looking a little dry and brittle, a good beard oil will do it wonders.

Not only will this help to smooth down fly aways to keep it looking neat and trim, but it will also nourish your skin and facial hair to keep it healthy, shiny, and soft.

Apply just 2-3 drops when you’re fresh out of the shower when your tache will be clean and soft so it can easily absorb the oil.

Murdock London Beard Moisturiser

Beard oil and moisturiser will be the ultimate cocktail to achieve a thicker, softer, and easier-to-style moustache.

Not only will this soften your tache, but it will help sooth any irritation or redness when you come to shave the beard for Movember!

Apply just 2 pumps daily through the hair and as close to the skin as possible.
